"Preparation to winning standards"

A bit about us

J T MOTORSPORT was set up in 2003 by myself Justin Thomas.

Having worked for race car specialists GR Motorsport since 2001 competing in the British and Asian Touring Car Championships I decided to go and work for myself.

I was approached by local rally driver Will Onions to help maintain and run his Escort F2 Kit Car during the 2003 BTRDA rally championship in which he competed in the two wheel drive category. He finished the season in 6th place overall and 1st in class A7 ( 2 litre FWD ).

2004 I again prepared and ran Will Onions co-driven by Tim Hobbs in their Escort F2 kit car this time finishing 4th overall and claiming outright honours in class A7. Whilst not rallying, I was working for GR ASIA competing in the European Touring Car Championhip running a pair of Honda Civic Type R's driven by British driver Simon Harrison and Finland's Toni Ruokonen.

2005 Will Onions again asked me to run his rally car in the BTRDA rally championship. This time in a very nice MK 2 Group 4 Escort in an extremely competitive class B12. He finished the season 6th overall and 4th in class. He also competed in the Roger Albert Clark rally at the end of the year, a grueling 4 day event in the North of England. Unfortunately retiring on the last day, he was heading for a top 3 finish in the open category.   Again I also worked for GR ASIA competing in the all new World Touring Car Championship running a pair of SEAT Toledos for drivers Tom Coronel and Valle Makela.

2006 Again running Will Onions and Tim Hobbs in the very distinctive day-glo orange MK 2 Group 4 Escort in the BTRDA Silverstar rally championship finishing 3rd overall & 2nd in Class B12. Also i was working for GR ASIA in the WTCC running a pair of SEAT Leons for drivers Tom Coronel and Maurizio Ceresoli. Tom won the Independents Championship & Maurizio finished 5th in his first year of Touring Car Racing. GR ASIA also won the Independents Teams Trophy.

2007 This season saw me concentrate on working with GR ASIA in the WTCC running SEAT Leons for drivers Tom Coronel & Emmet O'Brien. Also preparing and running Will Onions in his MK 2 Group 4 Escort in selected rounds of the BTRDA Championship. In between all this, with the help of O'Gorman Fabrications we built Will Onions an Historic spec MK 2 Escort rally car to compete in the 2007 R.A.C Rally & the 2008 British Historic Rally Championship.

2008 To concentrate on competing in the British Historic Rally Championship with Will Onions driving the J T MOTORSPORT built car which will see us taking on new challenges of competing on 3 tarmac rallies new to us. These take place on the Isle of Man, The Epynt Ranges Nr Brecon in Wales and The Tour of Flanders in Belguim. The target is to win Class D3 in the overall Championship. This year will also see Will Onions current Group 4 Escort being re-shelled and with a few changes the new car will be even more competitive. This car will be ready half way through the season and compete in selected rallies.

2009 We will be competing in the British Historic Rally Championship with 2 cars. The Class D3 car being driven by Guy Woodcock and the newly built Class D5 car being driven by Will Onions. Also we will be competing in the BTRDA Championship and other selected rallies with Will Onions driving the Millington Diamond powered " Modern " Group 4 Escort.
